By the time the album was finished, Partridge and Rundgren were actually at odds over every aspect. One song (Dear God) had to give way in favour of a vinyl-friendly length, which went on to become a hit. It was later discovered that the album sounded thin because the phases of the original master had been reversed during the transfer. With a simple correction, not only did the vinyl suddenly sound fabulous, but this CD (Corrected Polarity), released shortly after, sounded fresh and warm again.
