Recorded under intense time pressure while the band were touring almost constantly, it still sounds lean and disciplined, with Sting’s melodies, Andy Summers’ guitar textures and Stewart Copeland’s restless drumming locked into a tightly controlled sound that helped define early-1980s pop-rock.
