  • Down To Earth is an LP by Rainbow from 1979 released on the Polydor label.

    About this album

Down To Earth marked Rainbow’s move from sprawling fantasy metal towards tighter, hook-led hard rock. Released in 1979, the album introduced vocalist Graham Bonnet and focused the band around sharper songs, stronger choruses and a more direct commercial edge. Ritchie Blackmore’s guitar remained central, but the record is best known for the UK hit Since You Been Gone, written by Russ Ballard, which helped broaden Rainbow’s audience well beyond heavy rock circles. With standout cuts such as All Night Long and Eyes of the World, the album became one of Rainbow’s most accessible and successful releases, and a key bridge between hard rock and mainstream radio.
