    About this album

Thanks I’ll Eat It Here is Lowell George’s lone solo album and a sharply personal showcase for his blend of rock, funk and Southern soul. Released in 1979, it followed his work with Little Feat and highlighted both his distinctive slide guitar style and his taste for reinterpretation, including a notable reading of Allen Toussaint’s What Do You Want the Girl to Do. Recorded near the end of his life, the album has come to be regarded as an affecting final statement from a singular American musician, balancing wit, grit and melodic ease. Its mix of originals and covers captures George’s wide musical range without losing his laid-back, immediately recognisable voice.
