Led Zeppelin's Physical Graffiti Reissued for Its 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition on 180g 3LP. Features a Companion Audio Disc with Seven Bonus Tracks. Includes a New Bonus Replica Promotional Poster.
Generally regarded as one of the greatest double albums of all time, the original 15 Physical Graffiti tracks represent a creative tour de force that explores the bandâs dynamic musical range, from the driving rock of âCustard Pieâ to the exotic construction of âKashmirâ and the funky groove of âTrampled Under Foot.â
Jimmy Page began the initial work at his home studio in Plumpton, Sussex, England, in the summer and autumn of 1973, with the first recording sessions taking place that October at Headley Grange, using Ronnie Laneâs Mobile Studio. Further sessions at Headley continued in January 1974. Additional overdubs were recorded at Olympic Studios, where Page completed mixing of the album in July 1974.
To celebrate this landmark, Led Zeppelin will release an updated 50th Anniversary edition of 2015âs Physical Graffiti Deluxe Edition 3LP vinyl set, on 180g black vinyl, still featuring the Companion Audio Disc, and now including a new bonus replica Physical Graffiti promotional poster.
In addition, this special Deluxe Edition features previously unreleased companion audio that will satisfy every fan. The companion audio for Physical Graffiti: Deluxe Edition features seven bonus tracks that offer illuminating insight, including rough mixes of âIn My Time Of Dyingâ and âHouses of the Holy,â as well as an early mix of âTrampled Under Footâ called âBrandy & Coke.â All the unreleased companion tracks offer fans a chance to hear well-known songs from a different perspective, including the Sunset Sound mix of âBoogie With Stuâ and âDriving Through Kashmir,â a rough orchestra mix of the bandâs eight minute opus âKashmir.â Also featured is âEverybody Makes It Through,â a strikingly different early version of âIn The Lightâ with alternate lyrics.
"We had enough material for one-and-a-half LPs, so I figured, âLetâs put out a double and use some of the material weâd done previously but never releasedâ. I always thought the sequencing of an album was really important and that was part of my role as the producer." - Jimmy Page
âIt goes from one extreme to the other but at the same time, itâs very evident that itâs Zeppelin⊠I love the album and it does work as a double album. There are some real humdinger, roaring tracks.â - Robert Plant
âIâm a big fan of Physical Graffiti. [It] was very wide ranging. It probably was a pinnacle.â - John Paul Jones
