Focus At The Rainbow shows Dutch prog band Focus stretching their early catalogue into a fierce live statement. Recorded in 1972 and issued in 1973, the album captures the group’s blend of classical precision, jazz-rock agility and wild improvisation at a moment when they were becoming one of Europe’s most distinctive rock acts. Built around extended versions of Focus II, Hocus Pocus and Sylvia, it showcases Thijs van Leer’s yodelling, flute and organ work alongside Jan Akkerman’s razor-edged guitar. The record helped cement Focus’ reputation as a technically dazzling band whose live performances could be every bit as memorable as their studio releases.
