A: We Are Devo! sharpened the band’s robotic precision, nervous guitars and deadpan humour into a sound that was both catchy and confrontational. Their brilliantly twisted cover of (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction signalled the album’s intent: familiar rock tropes were being dismantled and reassembled with intent. Released in 1978, it helped establish Devo as one of the era’s most original and influential art-rock bands, with a vision that still feels ahead of its time.
