All Eyez On Me is 2Pac’s defining double album and one of the most important hip-hop releases of the 1990s. Issued in 1996, it came after his release from prison and captured him at full commercial and creative force, balancing menace, reflection and hedonistic West Coast energy. Built on G-Funk production and a guest-heavy cast that included the Outlawz, the record turned songs such as How Do U Want It, 2 Of Amerikaz Most Wanted, I Ain’t Mad At Cha and California Love (Remix) into mainstream statements. It became a major chart success and helped cement 2Pac as a towering figure in gangsta rap.
